Three wind turbines commissioned and further construction kicked off!
Since the beginning of the year, the new Green Wind wind farm in Beiersdorf-Freudenberg (Brandenburg, Märkisch-Oderland district) has been producing green electricity with three powerful wind turbines. At the same time, construction on a further Nordex N133 with 4.8 MW started in Schrepkow (Brandenburg, Prignitz district). Commissioning is scheduled for the end of 2024. Maximilian Horn is managing construction for Green Wind, from the dismantling of the old wind turbines to ensuring that all necessary tests are performed and approvals are obtained.
The rotors of the three wind turbines – one N149/5.7 and two N163/5.7 models – are now running in the repowering project in Freudenberg. These are the highest and most powerful turbines that Green Wind has ever built. They supply roughly another 15,000 households with green electricity.
Capacity increased five-fold
The wind turbine in Freudenberg is part of what is known as a repowering project, where existing turbines are replaced with new, more powerful ones. Two Enercon E 40 turbines with a capacity of 500 kW each, which had produced green electricity reliably since 1999, were dismantled. The capacity was increased five-fold by dismantling the turbines and commissioning just one new wind turbine.
EUR 10,000 per wind turbine per year
The surrounding municipalities are also benefiting from the wind farm. According to the Brandenburg Renewable Energy Act, all municipalities within a three-kilometer radius receive a lump sum of EUR 10,000 per wind turbine per year. 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour generated are paid to the municipalities here, which amounts to around EUR 30,000 in addition per wind turbine that is built.
Four hectares of deciduous woodland
The construction of the Freudenberg wind farm involves extensive ecological mitigating measures. For example, four hectares of deciduous woodland were reforested in Dannenberg. A new habitat for protected sand lizards was already created last year.
Goals are achieved with tenacity
Construction manager Maximilian Horn emphasizes the successful collaboration with the construction companies involved: Galabau Matschke (road construction and foundation excavation), Kabel- und Leitungstiefbau Masch (underground cable and line construction), and Max Bögl (hybrid tower). We are immensely grateful to all parties involved for the quick and smooth implementation, especially to the project development team at Green Wind for tenaciously pursuing approval processes, quickly securing the cable route, and providing support with the installation and integration of the communication systems.
Technical and commercial operations management of the new turbines is in the reliable hands of Green Wind Operations GmbH.
