Daniel Graßmann is new Head of Commercial Operations Management

greenwind has a new man with an eye for figures and efficiency: Daniel Graßmann is now Head of Commercial Operations Management (COM) at the Group. The finance professional from Brandenburg finds everything involving figures, strategies and people in a company “totally exciting”. We asked some questions:

How did you come to greenwind?
greenwind’s HR Manager, Maria Fahrland, got in contact with me on LinkedIn, and after the first conversation the fuse was lit. And I was also really looking forward to the next conversation with Georg Meyer, Managing Director in this area, and Milos Wimhöfer, who was responsible for managing COM and, with his expertise, will be staying on at greenwind. The range of tasks, the challenges and the likeability of the people I spoke to definitely won me over. (Although I have to confess, the chance of climbing into and onto a wind turbine at some point was extremely appealing.) The overall package was spot-on, and now I’m here.

Where did you work before?
I’m a trained business person down to the core. For me, everything to do with figures, strategies and people in a company is totally exciting, driving and motivating. I worked for the Deutsche Bahn Group for many years helping on the commercial side to make sure the red buses left on time, and then the urgent wish for a change drove me to Gran Canaria. After ten years though, I wanted to come home again. My last stop before greenwind was Solandeo, which was my starting point in the ‘renewables’ sector. As Head of Finance and Controlling there I was involved in operating smart metering systems for households with rooftop solar installations.

What are your most urgent tasks?
I’m mainly a listener and a learner. I have to understand the business and the existing processes, and also get to know the people behind the greenwind label. I’d then like to work with my COM colleagues to develop the division, get processes to be more efficient and automate them as well so that we can ensure scalability and increase efficiency.

What developments would you like to drive forward?
In the long term I think it’s desirable to build even more wind farms so that the security of electricity supply increasingly distances itself from fossil fuels, with the aim of eventually dispensing with those altogether. I’d like to play an active role in that. Renewable energies as part of the bastion against climate change is a matter that I think is vital, and I’m watching developments on our planet with very much concern. It means I’m highly motivated from the ground up to drive the greenwind family forward. My private little contribution: at home we have a balcony power plant on our carport in Fürstenwalde.

Do you already have any impressions of the team?
Yes, absolutely. I’m really looking forward to working with them, and they welcomed me with wide arms and open hearts. That makes me very happy.
