We call it ELY. Our 10 MW electrolyzer for green hydrogen!

greenwind’s first electrolyzer for the production of green hydrogen is set to be installed in Dachwig in Thuringia state in eastern Germany. The local council has voted to approve the construction of the decentralized plant in the municipality. Kilian Fromm and Philipp Geuss from Green Wind Innovation were recently invited by mayor Volker Aschenbach to present the project in detail at a public meeting.

The transparent implementation of the project with the involvement of stakeholders, which began in 2021 with a selection of a location, also includes consulting municipalities, water companies, regulatory authorities and local residents.

For the TH2ECO hydrogen project

The first phase of greenwind’s ELY plant, which is supplied with green wind power, is expected to be commissioned in 2025/2026. The aim is to achieve decentralized H2 generation that supplies a 100% H2 pipeline. The modular 10 MW electrolyzer is being constructed as part of Thuringia’s TH2ECO hydrogen project, which is advancing the supply of hydrogen in the Thuringian Basin region around Erfurt.

Connection to the hydrogen core network

The modular electrolysis plant system adapts to the local conditions in terms of the electricity and water supply, enabling a hydrogen market launch that reflects demand. The geographical location in direct proximity to the H2 pipeline means that the supply to industries connected to the hydrogen core network is highly scalable, while smaller customers can also be supplied using high-pressure storage vessels (H2 filling and trailer).

The conversion of an existing Ferngas Netzgesellschaft natural gas pipeline to pure hydrogen will make it possible to supply green hydrogen in large quantities (pipeline connection).

But how exactly does that all work with hydrogen? As part of its public relations activities, greenwind has designed a special information center where groups such as school classes can find out about H2 production and how the gas makes its way to the consumer.
