The sun supplies the sparrow’s nest
“Our ‘Spatzennest’ [Sparrow’s Nest] has been powered by the sun’s energy since summer,” says a very pleased Mrs Kelm, head of the daycare centre in the Wolfshagen district of Groß Pankow (Prignitz, Germany). The green power supply facility was financed by Vormark e.V., a non-profit organisation that promotes energy-saving activities in the Groß Pankow municipality.
Mayor Marco Radloff and the chairman of the association, Manuel Lasse, have now handed over a cheque totalling 13,000 euros, which is the sum used to finance the solar roof. The system, with an installed capacity of 10.64 kWp (kilowatt peaks), provides green electricity from solar energy. Manuel Lasse also presented another cheque for 500 euros on behalf of greenwind for free use by the Spatzennest daycare centre.
“The daycare facility for children can achieve savings of 25 to 45% annually thanks to the solar system,” says Manuel Lasse, who, as owner of the greenwind Group, has been committed for many years to developing renewable energy projects for an environmentally friendly future. “And the 26 children in our daycare centre are learning that we can produce energy in a self-sufficient and environmentally friendly way,” adds Marco Radloff. The municipal administration and the Spatzennest daycare centre sincerely thanked the association for its sunny support.
The greenwind Group regularly supports charitable renewable energy projects in the Prignitz region through the Vormark association.
