Green Wind Innovation wins H2Eco Award for TH2ECO
The Green Wind Innovation (GWInno) team practically jumped out of their seats. Amid the applause of the H2 sector, GWInno project manager Kilian Fromm jumped onto the stage and went straight to the sponsor of the award ceremony. German Federal Minister of Economics Dr. Robert Habeck presented him with the 2023 H2Eco Award conferred by Deutsche Messe AG and the German Hydrogen and Fuel Cell Association (DWV) e.V. on the occasion of the HANNOVER MESSE.
For Thuringia
Green Wind Innovation received the award for the TH2ECO partner project in Thuringia, a hydrogen ecosystem that Green Wind is developing in cooperation with regional experts for Thuringia. The aim of the project is to establish a regional hydrogen market in the medium term and integrate local value creation into a trans-regional market in the long term.
Habeck: Make use of dynamism!
German Federal Minister Dr. Robert Habeck emphasized that the German economy and art of engineering are global leaders in hydrogen and fuel cell technology. People with ideas and innovative projects should make use of this potential: “Make use of the dynamism we are currently experiencing in the economy.”
Among the first congratulators was DWV chairman Werner Diwald: “We are at the beginning of an energy revolution and the TH2ECO project takes exactly the right approach for securing a key role for Germany in the European green hydrogen market economy.”
Green H2 production
“This is a great form of recognition for our project that is already in the first implementation phase with all our active partners. That is not least thanks to TH2ECO project manager Dr. Grossmann from Ferngas and our team on the project and at Green Wind,” said Kilian Fromm, who is part of the passionate GWInno team together with Natalie Klette and Melanie Graf and committed to green hydrogen and intelligent sector integration. Manuel Lasse, Managing Director of GWInno said: “We are confident that we will be able to use 100% green hydrogen in the Erfurt area to supply the heat, industry, and traffic sectors in the near future.” The Green Wind Group plans and operates renewable energy facilities as a basis for their own green H2 production.
Three finalists
An independent jury consisting of top-class hydrogen experts from business, research, society, and politics selected Green Wind Innovation from 15 applicants and three finalists. The two other finalists were H-TEC SYSTEMS GmbH and the APEX Group. The H2Eco Award is presented to companies that demonstrate exceptional commitment to a hydrogen market economy according to the principles of economic efficiency, sustainability, and supply security and make a special contribution to protecting the climate.
