greenwind’s repowering project in Beeskow is entering the home straight. Two Enercon E-160 EP 5 turbines have been put into operation in eastern Brandenburg, Germany, which supply green electricity for around 6,500 households. In this first construction phase, eight new turbines with a total output of 44.48 MW are replacing seven smaller, obsolete systems with 2 MW outputs.

The E-160 based on the EP5 platform was developed with a view to the requirements of locations with medium to low wind conditions, and has a rated output of 5.56 MW with a rotor diameter of 160 metres and the hub height is 166.6 metres. The wind turbines were erected with hybrid towers, each consisting of 30 concrete segments, an adapter and three steel sections.
Due to the height of the turbines at 246.6 metres above level ground, day and night marking was required for flight safety purposes. The hazard lights of the systems are only switched on at night by means of demand-controlled night marking if a flying object approaches.

The legally specified compensatory measures consist of almost two hectares of initial afforestation in the Niewisch district: 7,775 pines, 4,600 durmast oaks as well as birch, sycamore and hedge maple will be planted. Also, the edge of the forest is being reforested and a wildlife protection fence will be set up.
greenwind was commissioned with site management of the infrastructure for the entire project for its cooperation partners enercity Erneuerbare GmbH and Alteric Deutschland GmbH. One of the two Enercon turbines installed in the first construction phase will now remain in the greenwind portfolio.
