Sandra Zanzig new Head of Technical Operations Management

Sandra Zanzig heads greenwind’s Technical Operations Management

“It’s the blend of engineering and economics which suits me particularly well,” explains greenwinds’ new Head of Technical Operations Management (TOM). “With sustainability and team spirit added, this is more than just a workplace for me – it’s my professional home!”

Grown up at greenwind
Sandra Zanzig knows her field inside out. She has been working at TOM for eight years, starting as a working student and then joining full-time as a technical operations manager after having graduated. With the growing portfolio and increase in staff, she worked with her predecessor Franziska Brüll to establish process management in Technical Operations Management, supporting the IMS department with the ISO 9001 and 45001 audits.

Always for the customer
Georg Meyer, Managing Director of Green Wind Operations GmbH, is more than happy about the expert management of his department: “Sandra has an excellent overview of the team and the unconditional desire to solve problems in the interests of our customers.” Her team currently manages approx. 600 MW of wind energy and 15 MW of photovoltaics. So let’s ask Sandra herself:

What particularly motivated you during you studies?

It was during my studies in industrial engineering with a focus on mechanical engineering (bachelor’s degree) and renewable energies (master’s degree) at TU Berlin when I realised that my main interest was actually in the technical field. Then, however, while writing my bachelor’s thesis, I dealt with the topic of sustainability in the technical field for the first time. So even with my interest in the technical field, I am glad that I chose an interdisciplinary degree programme that combines engineering and economics. Obviously, TOM is always about the efficient combination of technology and assets.

Where does your enthusiasm for TOM actually come from?

While my interest in sustainability was growing, I decided to search for companies in the wind energy sector in Berlin and then came across greenwind. And my first time on a wind turbine was definitely a revelation. The height, the view, nature and tranquillity when standing on the nacelle roof … that was absolutely overwhelming.

You’ve been with greenwind for 8 years now. What are your experiences?

When I started at greenwind, it was a small, almost family-like company. It was very encouraging for me to grow with my responsibilities over the years and also to see greenwind continue to grow steadily. Now and based on my own experiences, I am looking forward to giving something back in my new role. I would like to thank Franziska Brüll in whose footsteps I’m now following at greenwind and who has been with me in all these years.

What do you wish for your team and for yourself?

Open, trusting collaboration where everyone can contribute their own strengths. It is essential for me that we grow together, address challenges in a transparent manner and celebrate successes together. Personally, I hope to provide guidance in my new role on the one hand and, on the other, to leave room for new ideas and developments.
