Moabit neighbourhood festival

At the Moabit neighbourhood festival, the Energy and Climate Day, quite a lot was going on at greenwind‘s municipal heat planning stand. Our dedicated team had come up with a few specials to illustrate the burning issue of municipal heat planning to everybody interested. Answers were provided by means of a fantastic simulation game: Where in the municipality is heat needed? Which municipal heat sources are available? And how can we actually connect the heat sources to the heat sinks?

Around 5% of municipalities across Germany have adopted municipal heat planning, while 44% are in the process of developing it.

The specific implementation of heat plans is on the agenda evermore often, a fact raising questions: Who is eligible to be the future operator of a new heating network? How do we continue the regular dialogue with all stakeholders? And how can large projects be financed?

greenwind‘s current municipal heat planning projects also focus on the development of target scenarios and measures. Thanks to the broad participation of companies, municipalities and network operators and in a lively, collaborative design process, we find answers and raise detailed questions.

Many of the topics were discussed at the stand in Berlin-Moabit (photo from left: Michael Nguyen, Christopher Curran, Maximilian Hinz and Lena Kühnast), and the greenwindians distributed ‘Benni Briese und das Windrad’ (Benni Briese and the Wind Turbine), a Pixie book, to the younger generation.
